Blind, Maple & Co, 1880s, Paris or London, print from a trade catalogue.
#5 This print is from Maple & Co trade catalogue which the company produced in 1880s to conquer the French market, a few years later they would open a shop in Paris. This store is an example of the diversity of the Gothic Revival movement and its different uses. It would be interesting to know if the buyers had a Gothic Revival house or if they only wanted to Gothicised their home. Maple recommends in the trade catalogue to math this store with a Gothic styled window. |
